You’ve created some great content now and you want everybody to see it. This could be a blog post or a video that you have created.
Now for the big question.
How in the heck do I get people to see it? How do I get eyeballs on my masterpiece?
In today’s blog, I’m going to go over five strategies that work every single time to help promote your content. Some of these strategies may be obvious to you. But there may be a golden nugget or two for you to find.
Promoting Your Content – #1 Build An Email List
Your email list is the backbone of your business. This is actually a business asset. Where your social media sites or not yours. You may have tons of followers on a site. But it’s Facebook or any of the social media sites to decide to shut you down. All those followers you had are gone.
With an email list, this is yours. You can take this anywhere you want. That’s why this is considered an asset to your business.
What’s in an email list you have more control over what you can say.
When you come up with a new piece of content now you can send this out to your email list. doing this builds up goodwill and brand awareness with your audience. This starts building up that like, know, and trust relationship with your audience. When it comes time to promote one of your products or services. You have a better chance of obtaining a customer.
Promoting Your Content – #2 Email To Your Non-opens
This one is basically an extension of number one.
When you send out an email you typically have an open rate between 5% to 10%. There’s going to be a lot of people on your list that doesn’t open your email. We call these people non-openers.
One of the best things that I found to do to get more use from my list. I’d like to email that same exact content to the non-openers. I literally just reuse the email I initially sent out and send it to the people that never opened it the first time.
Hey, I get it. You don’t feel like reading the article. Check out the video were you and I will go through each detail.
Promoting Your Content – #3 Social Media
There are definitely many social media sites that you can use to promote your content. You can use Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Pinterest. These are the more popular sites. But there are literally dozens more that you can use.
Facebook is a great way to promote your content. If you have any Facebook groups you can add your post into these. Speaking of Facebook groups if you are a member of some niche groups within Facebook you can also post here. Posting to your Facebook profile page is an awesome place to start.
The trick is to find out all the different ways you can use a social media site to post your content. The other thing you need to keep in mind when using different social media sites. They are not all the same. What you post on Facebook may not work for Twitter or YouTube. When creating your post keep this in mind.
There are also tools out there to help with automating your posting on different social media sites. This is a great way to go because you can schedule out your post for the week or even the month. this is a good way to automate your business.
Promoting Your Content – #4 Recycle It
The easiest way to recycle content is to have it automatically done for you. There are several posters that you can use to get this done. There’s HootSuite, Meet Edgar, and Post Planner come to mind right now.
This is how to use these types of services. Say you do a video on YouTube and you post it. Now you can have that same video scheduled to go out 90 days from now automatically. The service will post it for you.
This is another way for you to get exposure. By using the services to repost your content over time. Even if someone has seen your content before. Chances are they probably already forgot about it.
When you’re creating content you want to have a long-term vision with doing it. Recycling is one of the best ways to get this done. Keep this in mind as you are creating your new content. This works best with Evergreen type content.
Promoting Your Content – #5 Paid Ads
This may seem like an obvious one. You could create a Google ad with your keyword or niche and drive people right to a blog post you just got done creating. What about a video that you just got done uploading to YouTube. You could use Facebook ads and drive traffic to your video to get more views.
The key here is to choose a platform. Make up your mind that you’re going to really master that platform. This is the best way for you to get the results you’re expecting. The Idea here is don’t jump from one to the other. Stick to the one you like and really learn it.
The advantage of using paid marketing is that it’s extremely fast. With free and organic marketing it can be a long wait before you see the traffic to your content.
