An Astonishing Lack of Urgency (And How It’s Stopping You From What You Want)

Today in this blog I want to talk to you about what stops most people from achieving their goals are having any online success at all.

How does this sound to you?

I remember when I first started with my online business. It went much slower than I planned. there were a few reasons why this happened but I want to talk to you about the biggest one That was stopping me.

But before I get started I just have to rewind my life back just a little bit. Hopefully, this will give you a better understanding of what I’m about to tell you.

A few years ago I left a very special company that I worked at for more than 33 years. Okay, okay I was laid off, but that’s not the point here.

After I’ve been gone for a while I made a few observations that went on every single day.

Lack of Urgency – Finger-Pointing

The company was going through some difficult times. I’m going to spare you a lot of the details here. The thing that was going on was. None of the different departments were coming together as a team. Instead, they were blaming each other whenever something went wrong. I think we had a better relationship with our competition than we did with our internal groups.

Another thing that was happening. Whenever another group had a problem everyone looks the other way. They simply had the attitude it’s not our problem it’s theirs. Instead of finding out what they could do to help and move things along. (which would make it; much better for everyone in the company).

Every time you point your finger at someone or something else there are three fingers pointing right back at you.

This is something to think about…

Lack of Urgency – Frantic And Unproductive Activity

A lot of the work we were doing seem to come about because we had to put out a fire or fix the most immediate problem or issue that a customer was having. I agree, don’t get me wrong you should always help your customers.

The point that I’m trying to make here is there was no planning for the future and how the company would fit into this future.

There was definitely a sense of urgency. This is because we were spending all of her time frantically putting out the latest fire. We were always in survival mode.

But there was no urgency to come up with a plan so that in the future it would minimize or eliminate most of the day-to-day fires we are constantly putting out. There’s a huge difference between anxious and frustrated feelings versus a deep determination to make something useful happened today.

Lack of Urgency – Working From Your Home

Now, that I gave you a little about my work environment history. What the heck does this have to do with running your own business?

If you’re feeling comfortable at your job or at home. You may not have a big enough reason to go for your goal. You’re extremely comfortable and this is making you feel complacent.

When you’re complacent you’re going to have a lack of urgency.

Let’s find out if this is you.

Let’s talk about the goals that you have.

oh…you don’t have any, do you?

If your first step you. Your first task today is to create your first goal.

Now even if you have goals and these have been set with your best intentions. This alone isn’t enough to get your butt off that Cozy Couch.

You still may be finding yourself doing a few things that aren’t helping you to achieve your goal.

Lack of Urgency – Putting Things Off Till Later (if ever)

We tend to put things off till later instead of doing them right away. How many times do you hear yourself saying I can do that tomorrow or there’s always tomorrow. By putting things off is a goal killer for sure.

Your new way of thinking when you find yourself doing this should be. I need to get this done today because there is going to be something else to do tomorrow. If I don’t get this done today I’m going to have to push this out and also what I plan to do tomorrow. We tend to keep pushing things out more and more until we just simply don’t want to do them or forget about him. This is a vicious cycle that we get ourselves into.

Lack of Urgency – Waiting On Someone Else

I hear this one a lot with my customers and business friends. I’m waiting for John to finish the sales funnel before I can write my email campaigns or any of my ads.

Here I got another good one for you that I hear quite a bit. I’m not sure how to connect the sales page to my landing page so I’m going to wait for the training next week.

Both of these examples that I’ve given. This is causing this person to wait. Any form of waiting is a success stopper. They’d rather wait instead of looking for other ways to keep moving forward.

Don’t wait for someone to finish their task it may take them much longer than they’re telling you. In the meantime work on everything you can to finish what you need to get done. So that when they are finished you can hit the ground running. Doing this will also keep your mind moving forward. Therefore you’re going to be moving closer and closer to your goal every day.

Instead of waiting for the weekly training go find out for yourself how to get something done. You only need two sites in the whole world to find out your answer. It’s Google and YouTube. Whatever it is that you were trying to figure out somebody has already done it before you. The chances are pretty good that it’s can be found in a Google search or a video on YouTube.

Take the initiative. These are so important for your mindset. Again this action gets you out of the waiting state, to a moving forward state. So once again I’m going to repeat myself. Every day that you move forward is one day closer to your goal.

Lack of Urgency – Not Having A Plan

You may be keeping busy with activities. What are these activities productive? Are these the activities that are going to help you reach your goal?

One of the things that I practice doing each day is taking a short assessment of what I’m doing. I take an inventory of exactly the test that I’m doing for the day and ask myself. Are these going to help me reach my goal? The reason why I’m doing this is just to make myself become aware of the time I’m spending and to make sure it’s helping me get to my goal.

Most of the time we find ourselves floundering around because we don’t have a plan in place. Having a plan in place is going to give you the structure and make more efficient use of your time. You will be able to get more productive activities done in less time with a plan.

Lack of Urgency – Is this really important?

When you have a sense of urgency to get activities done. A few things are going to start to happen. One of them being the most important is that you’re going to start feeling much better about yourself. When you start feeling better about yourself you’re going to become more confident and fill yourself with self-love.

This is going to allow you to come from a totally different mindset. YOu will be coming for a mindset of taking charge and figuring out how to get activities done.

When roadblocks are put in front of you or when life gets in the way. You’re going to come up with a plan and figure it out.

You going to start noticing your stress levels going down. It’s going to be easier for you to get out of bed every morning. your business will be improving there for your financial situation will be improving.

Now I ask you is this really important?

Lack of Urgency – Final Thoughts

final thoughts

I remember when I first got started with my online business my body was molded right into life’s Cozy Couch. I was doing this because it was easy and my financial situation wasn’t all that bad. But at the same time, I wasn’t getting a single result in my business.

No lead coming in.

Because of no leads. I had no sales.

This went on longer than I care to mention here.

The reason why this was happening because I had no sense of urgency.

The second I decided to get my you-know-what off the life’s Cozy Couch. The results in my business and also my life totally changed around.

This doesn’t mean you go about it in a frantic scattered way.

The first thing you want to do. Set some good goals for yourself.

The next thing you want to do is create a plan and stick to it. Be careful and don’t make it too ambitious. Only add a few things to this plan and stick to them. This is going to go a long way.

Start thinking about doing things in the present, and not in the future. The quicker you get them done the less time you spend thinking about doing them. This will give you more time to get other things done. It’s funny how this works.

Don’t ever wait on other people to get things done for you. you need to figure a way to work around it. do whatever you can do so that you are ready to go and hit that ground running.

The idea is to always keep moving forward.

Every day that you move forward is one day closer to your goals.
