Today in this blog you and I are going to find out what email marketing is and how it can be beneficial for your business. If you’re not doing any kind of email marketing for your business today. Keep on reading.
I’m going to give you some actionable items that you can use to get started today.
You’ve probably heard people saying that email marketing is dead. Now that we have social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
This day in age most people consider email old school. This is something that you don’t need for your business. Well, nothing can be further from the truth.
People feel that their followers on social media are the only thing they need. But the only true asset you have for your business is your email system. What happens if Facebook or YouTube decide to shut your account down. Remember you don’t own our social media content. All your Facebook content is owned by Mark Zuckerberg. The other thing you need to consider is that social media sites are always changing their algorithm. This seems like an ongoing process. depending on the algorithm this could drastically change the reach that you have.
With an email list, this is yours to keep. This is why your email is considered an asset to your business.
With email marketing. you could send one email out and have the potential to make hundreds if not thousands of dollars. What other systems do you know that can do this.
Before we go any further. I have just one question for you.

Email Marketing – Follow Up
With your email system, you can create something known as a followup series. You create the series ahead of time with your emails. This series could range anywhere from one email to literally dozens. When a prospect signs up to your email list your autoresponder will start sending these emails out automatically 24/7. This part of your business runs on complete autopilot.
Your emails will be offering them tons of value. These emails will also include your company branding. This is a great way to constantly remind prospects on your email list about your company and who you are.
Email Marketing – Traffic
Traffic is something that every business needs. Without this, you have no business at all. Traffic is simply people you get to your website or sales funnel.
There are three types of traffic.
The traffic you control – This is any type of paid traffic. With this type of traffic, you could turn it on at a moment’s notice. This could be Facebook ads, Google AdSense, or any pay per click Traffic Service.
The traffic you don’t control – This is free or organic traffic that may come to your website. There are lots of ways you can get free traffic to your business. You can do this by posting on social media. A YouTube channel is also great for getting free traffic.
The traffic you own – This is your email list. this is exactly how you want to think of your email list and why you want to build your list as big as you possibly can. The bigger your list the more sales you will get from it day after day.
Not all traffic is created equal. This is why you have to treat different traffic differently. Let me explain.
There is cold, warm, and hot traffic.
Cold traffic – This type of traffic are people that don’t know you or haven’t seen any of your content before. This is for both free and paid traffic sources. Cold traffic would be a person that entered a search in Google and then and it come up on your website. The Google search Led them to your website. Now this person comes in and looks around your website to start getting to know you.
Warm traffic – This type of traffic would be a person that’s maybe seen you on social media before. Or they may have heard about your business before. Their interest is piqued so now they start doing a little research on your business. They’ve been soaking in your content and this is setting them up for the next stage.
Hot traffic – This is traffic that has been following you for a while whether it’s on social media or your emails that you send out. This is the best kind of traffic. Now if you can keep getting in front of enough they will eventually buy.
Now that we’ve got all that out of the way. Let’s start going over the actionable items that you need to start taking today To get your email marketing up and running.

Email Marketing – Your Autoresponder
The first thing you need to do is find an autoresponder. This is your email system. There are literally hundreds to choose from on the internet. One of the autoresponders I hear a lot of people use is called MailChimp. I have personally never used this one myself. But two other autoresponders that I have used are AWeber and GetResponse.
After you choose your autoresponder I’m going to show you the steps you need to take.
These next steps are required for an autoresponder that you choose.
Email Marketing – Create a List
A list is where all the subscriber email addresses are stored. With an autoresponder, this is the first thing you need to do after creating your account. You could also have multiple lists to segment your subscribers. You could create a list for each of your different products or services. It’s essential that you at least have one list to get started.
Email Marketing – Create Your Email Follow-up Series
The next thing you have to do is create your email follow-up series. These are the emails that will automatically be sent out when somebody signs up to your list. You could get fancy and create different follow series for your different list.
This is one of the best features of an autoresponder. You don’t have to send out a single email when your subscribers start signing up for your list. This is automatically done for you 24/7. Automating as many tasks in your business will give you more time to do the things you want to do. You still have to get traffic so that they will sign up to your list.
This is a great way for people to get to know you. If your content is going to help them or solve a problem that they may have. You’ve got them hooked now. You need to give them time to get to know like and trust you.
Email Marketing – Lead Magnet
For your emails to start working you need to drive traffic to your email list. A little trick that you can use to get more people to sign up to your email list is to offer them a lead magnet. A lead magnet is something that you give away for free in return for their email address. This is something you can use to greatly increase the number of people that will sign up for your email list.

Email Marketing – Capture Page
This is the step when you’re creating a web page that visitors will use to sign up for your email list. This type of page goes by several names. You made hear refer to as a landing page, lead capture page, squeeze page, or opt-in page. These all do the same thing. The soul functionality of this page is to collect someone’s email and send it to your autoresponder.
There are a few good websites that you can use to create your very own capture pages. ClickFunnels is a very popular one. I’ve used it in the past and found that it was a little bit more difficult to use then I would like to see. I had a hard time getting my customers up to speed with ClickFunnels. It’s a top-notch system. but for most people, it’s just a little bit too technical.
I’m not sure about you. I don’t want to spend a lot of my time and energy trying to figure out how to create a capture page for my business. I’ve got better things and more productive things that I need to do.
The other thing I found with this system I can actually show my customers how to use it. They seem to pick up on it much faster. It’s a very straightforward system and gives you just enough flexibility so it’s not too confusing and yet you can make stunning looking capture pages with it.
Email Marketing – Wrapping It Up
It may seem that there’s a lot you need to know to put together email marketing for your business. But this is something that you can do in stages. And that’s what I would recommend doing if you’re just getting started. For instance, you can just get your autoresponder and just start writing some emails.
Once you get comfortable at that point you can move on to the next thing which would be creating your capture page. Then after you’re comfortable with creating capture pages you could start running traffic to them.
I suggest when you get everything going tested on a small scale using a paid traffic Source. The reason why I recommend doing this. Because your leads will come in much faster .With free traffic you never know when your lead is going to come in. You need to use a traffic source that you can control.
Once you get your email marketing system down. Start concentrating on really growing your list.
