You’ve probably following my blogging training series. You’ve been reading the emails and watching the videos. Yet, there hasn’t been a single thing about blogging.
You might be thinking right about now that this guy (that’s me) is nuts. I don’t really think he knows anything about blogging at all. Heck, he’s probably not even a blogger.
Don’t worry. The good stuff is coming. I promise.
But like with most things in life you have to get your house in order. Figuratively using house meaning you. There’s always upfront prep work that has to be done.
If you don’t do these types of things before you actually get started. They usually result in failure.
Let me see if I can spin this in a nicer way for you. You may not get the results that you were expecting.
Today in this blog I want to talk about the importance of email Opt-ins for your blog. Before we get into this tidbit. We need to know what an email opt-in is.
What Exactly Is An Email Opt-in?
An email opt-in allows you to collect visitors’ email addresses when they visit your blog page. Once you collect their email addresses. You will now be able to send out emails offering value to them as often as you would like. At the same time, you’re going to use a simple call to action to your offer which is your product or service.
Why Do I Need An Email List?
The email list is the most important asset in your business. This is something that you are going to nurture over time. the leads that you get into your email list are yours to keep. Now you also want to keep this in mind. They not only on your list. they are also on lots of other people’s too.
This is why your emails are so important to get them to know, like, and trust you. The way you’re going to be doing this is by offering value in each one of your emails.
Your followers on social media are definitely important for your business. You have to remember that you don’t have control over those followers. Look at Facebook always changing their algorithms. They’re not the only social media site doing this.
Say for instance you have a YouTube channel and Google who owns YouTube decides to shut your channel down.
I’m not sure about you. But I’ve been in Facebook jail at least one time that I can remember. I wasn’t able to post for at least a week. This has happened to other people too.
I’m telling you this because I want you to be aware of the little control that you have with any social media site.
With an email list, you can email anything your little heart desires. You can send out as little or as many emails that you would like. You can even see which subscribers are opening your emails or clicking on your links. You also know which ones you are getting zero engagement from, not opening your emails.
You have complete control over everything with an email list.
Email is a great way to remind people that you are still alive and kicking. When they come to your blog page they may absolutely love it and sign up for email. They do this because they’re all excited and can’t wait for your next blog.
But you and I both know that five minutes after leaving your blog its history. With our busy lives in short attention spans, We quickly forget about a good thing. That’s where your email comes in. You need to constantly remind them that you have the solution to their problems.
It’s important to stay in their presence and the most logical way to do this is through email.
Email is another way to build a relationship with your reader. This gives you the opportunity to be a little more personal without having to worry about SEO structure, sentence structure or any other kind of structure.
Your email list is going to work with your blog and all your social media efforts as well. You can use your email list and take them to your social media pages. You could also bring people from social media to your email list.
Never underestimate the value of your email list.
Hey, I get it. You don’t feel like reading the article. Check out the video were you and I will go through each detail.
How To Create The Right Email Opt-in
You’re probably thinking. How hard can this be? All I have to do is slap one on my page and I’m good to go.
That’s it right?
Sure, it can be done like that. but you’re probably not going to get many people signing up. If your content is completely smashing and people love it. This may work for you. Just like you, your visitors are always looking for value. For this reason, you need to apply the right strategy when creating your email opt-in.
Email Opt-in Lead Magnet
One of the first things you need to learn to create a lead magnet. A lead magnet is something that you will create or find that offers value. This can be anything from an ebook to a video. This is something your visitor will get for free when they sign up for your email.
Yes, I’ll come out and say it. I’ll lead magnet is basically an ethical bride. If you give me your email I will give you my lead magnet
Your email opt-in is the beginning of your sales funnel. This is where you get started on getting that lead to know you and your offer. This is the beginning of their journey to get to know you. You need to influence and start building that trust with them.
Email Opt-in Paige Location
As a rule, I place my opt-in form at the end of each blog post. you should do this whether you write your blog post on your website, or Medium or Quora. The more eyeballs you have on your opt-in. The more email subscribers you will get. That’s what this whole thing is about.
Another great location for placing opt-ins is right in the blog post. There’s nothing saying that you can’t have more than one opted on a page.
You could also use pop-ups. This is where the email opt-in form will pop up on the page when you’re either first come to the page or getting ready to leave the page. In my personal opinion, these are annoying to me. I’m not telling you not to use them. It’s just how I feel.
Let me know if you get annoyed by pop-ups and having the closing all the time just to read an article that you’re interested in.
What Is The Right Opt-in?
This simply means that the opt-in fits the context of the post. If you do this someone is more likely to sign up. The other important reason for doing this is making sure that the leads you have coming in match your market. They call this market to message match.
Let me explain. If your blog article is about losing weight. Your email opt-in talks about how someone needs to exercise. These don’t match. This will result in fewer signups for you. Also, the ones that do sign up will tend not to open your emails. They came to your blog to learn about losing weight, not exercising.
Make sure you have a very clear message on what you were doing with your blog. This will avoid a lot of mismatches and confusion like this.
Email Opt-in With Quality
Your opt-in is the first place for people will get to know you. This is why it’s very important to create quality by offering value to your leads. This is your first impression, so make it a good one.
This is your chance to wow and impress them. So make it awesome.
