Don’t you hate having to start something new?
It doesn’t matter what it is, but anything new that we have to start takes a lot of effort on our part.
Not to mention a lot of times we’re not even sure where to start and how to begin.
How do you get unstuck whenever you starting something new?
When we first get started with something new it seems like we tend to complicate things. Which causes us to become overwhelmed. Then the next we do is to stop dead in our tracks.
Today in this blog I’m going to explain how this happens and what you can do the next time when this starts to happen to you.
It happens to me. It happens to probably almost every single one of us.
Let me try to lay out a scenario that happens with a lot of affiliate marketers.
To do this I need to introduce you to Matt The Marketer.
Matt is an affiliate marketer who just purchased a product that he just really needed to have. This product is amazing. It has all the marketing training that he will ever need to help his business grow. The products are top-notch and everyone needs them. He’s going to have no problems getting customers.
Matt is ready and motivated to make things happen.

Then Matt jumps right in to get things moving. He finds the login for the new product and it’s off to the faces.
Then he has a big look around at everything taking it all in.
The training modules. They all look fantastic.
There is a huge marketing section with emails and funnels galore. The marketing resources are the da bomb.
Matt can’t contain his excitement any longer. He wants to get going as fast as humanly possible.
Oh, did I mention the fantastic training?
But then something unexpected happened to Matt.
He went from being totally motivated to a state of overwhelm and confusion.
He just realized that he’s been at this for a while and yet nothing. He’s been at this for a few days and yet nothing to show for it. He’s not sure if he’s learning anything. The sales funnels, what’s that all about? Every day he feels as if he’s just spinning his wheels.
Everything started to look just like one huge gigantic maze. Not sure what to do next. He sat there waiting for a sign that would show him exactly where and how to get started. But it’s nowhere to be found.
Then he decided that the best course of action to take is to put this whole mess off for the next day. I’m sure you’ll be able to figure it out then. The next day came and still nothing. A few more days followed with the same results. He just figured it would be easier to quit and hope something else will come along soon.
If you are an affiliate marketer have you ever felt just like Matt? How many times have you bought an offer thinking this is going to be the one. This is going to be the one to start crushing it and making tons of money.
Whenever starting something new we tend to make things more complicated than they have to be right from the get-go. Instead of coming up with a game plan to dissect and modularize the different areas or pieces. We sit there and try to solve everything without any knowledge or understanding of what to do.
Then this leads us to give up and moving on to something else.
Small Steps Can Make A Big Change – The Game Plan
Step number one, break down as much as possible into small actionable steps. Don’t worry about where to begin. The best spot to begin is to start with what you already know and understand. Start breaking it down into small steps. As you’re doing this ideas and thoughts will come to you on how to handle the rest.
The idea here is you want to create small steps for yourself. Each of these steps is much easier to complete. Look at each one of these small steps as a goal. When you complete a small step you have just achieved one of your goals. This will also teach you how to create a goal and then achieve it. Each of these small steps when completed will be the result of completing a bigger goal.
When taking small steps like this you’re going to narrow your focus on just doing that one task. This is going to make it much easier for you to complete each one.
Write out each of the separate steps in a document or on a piece of paper. As you complete each task just draw a line through it. You’ll be amazed at how gratifying just doing this can be. This is also going to reinforce the progress that you are making.
For my plan, I always include a whiteboard and write down all my tasks that have to be done. There’s nothing more satisfying than crossing a task off a list.
The reason why this plan is so effective is that these big ginormous tasks are broken down into bite-size manageable pieces. You decide how small to break each piece down. It’s up to you to break it down as small as you need it. When you can look at the task and say:
I’ve got it.
I can do it.
It’s in the bag,
It’s a done deal.
Then it’s small enough…

Maybe you’re at the point where you just want to learn how to tackle other tasks going on in your life right now. If you want to dive in deep and really take this to the next level.
I want to share 2 books by 2 great authors that I have just recently read. I’m sure if you read these books they will work their magic on you too. These books are lifesavers let me tell you.
The first book is called The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy. He talks about doing things in small steps and being consistent every day.
The other book is by James Clear called Atomic Habits. James talks about developing good habits which is a must if you want to be successful with whatever it is you start out to do.
Small Steps Can Make A Big Change – Final Thoughts
So, what are you going to do the next time you’re faced with a big project or feel overwhelmed?
You are going to take a long deep breath.
Then you’re going to tell yourself I’ve got this. This is easy. I can do this.
Then you are going to put the plan in place. Break everything down into microscopic steps. Don’t worry about what step one should be. Step one is going to be the part that you are ready to understand to get you going and moving. This will get you in slow.
Now, I want you to enjoy putting a line through each of those completed tasks.
