Creating a vision for your life might seem like a complete waste of time. But I’m here to tell you it’s not. Creating a Clear Vision for the life that you want is actually one of the most effective strategies for achieving your goals and dreams.
One of the best ways to look at your life vision is as a compass to help guide you to take the best actions and make the right choices toward your best life.
Why is a life vision so important for me?
Having a Clear Vision will give you a better chance of succeeding far beyond what you could possibly otherwise achieve without having one. Think of your vision as a GPS. This is a mapping of your personal and professional dreams.
A rude wake-up call here.
If you don’t develop a Clear Vision you will allow other people and circumstances to direct and choose your life’s journey.
Start creating your life vision now
Don’t expect your Clear Vision to happen overnight. Give yourself some time to determine the course you will follow requires time and reflection on your part.
You need to immerse yourself and to get a good perspective on the logic and planning for your vision.
Your Clear Vision is going to be created from your dreams, hopes, and aspirations. Your clear Vision will be congruent with your own values and ideas. It’s going to create the energy of encouragement to help make your commitment even stronger while you are exploring the possibilities for your life.
Ask yourself, what do you want?
You need to ask yourself what seems like a very simple question. What do you want? When you really explore and dig deep down. This question can start making you feel very uncomfortable. You may possibly think about dismissing this question because you feel it’s a waste of your time. It’s important to remind yourself that a life of fulfillment doesn’t happen by chance. It happens by planning and taking control.
One of the best ways to help you with this question is by asking yourself other questions that will help you discover the possibilities that you want out of life. Consider everything in your life whether that’s personal or professional. Focus on tangible and intangible too. Think about all the areas in your life health, wealth, family, friends, career and success, and even spiritual connections.
Some things to think about:
Focus on what you want, not what others expect of you.
Be very creative. Consider ideas you never thought possible.
Focus on the things you want NOT the things you don’t want.
Consider why you want certain things.
Asking your self some questions to get you started
What legacy do you want to leave behind?
What do you want to accomplish the most?
What’s near and dear to you?
What are your core values?
What are your core beliefs?
What would bring more joy and happiness into your life?
Do you have any secret passion or dreams?
Forget about money right now what do you want from your career?
What do you want more of in your life?
What really matters to you?
Grab a pen and piece of paper and start writing down your own thoughts. This would be the time to journal all your questions. Above all else just relax and have fun with this exercise. Revisit these questions at a later time and see if anything has changed or maybe you need to add something.
imagine what your best life would look like
For this one, you’re going to have to drop all your preconceived notions.
Describe your ideal life and allow yourself to dream and imagine. It’s important for you to create a vivid picture as you focus on your best life. While you are envisioning your life think about how you would feel and what your life would be like.
You may have trouble creating an image maybe 20 years out. If this is you, then think about your life and what’ll be like in 2 years, 5 years, 10 years and then 20 years out.
This is your chance to dream and fantasize so don’t put any limits on it.
Here are just a few ideas to help you get started:
When you think about your best life does it make you smile? does your heart start to pound? If it doesn’t you need to dig a Little Deeper.
Are you in shape physically and if so how do you feel about that?
What is your state of mind are you happy or frustrated?
How do you dress?
Are you with another person maybe a group of people?
What do you like doing?
Where do you live?
What country state and city?
Do you live in a house or an apartment?
How do you spend your ideal day?
Focus on the result. don’t worry about the process of how you going to get there. That’s coming up. Give yourself permission to revisit your Clear Vision every day even if it’s only for a short time.
Now for the planning
The easiest way to do this believe it or not is to plan it all out backward. You want to do this because you’re looking at your end result. This is a very valuable step for making your Clear Vision become a reality.
What steps or milestones do you have to accomplish along the way?
How long will it take for you to realize your best life?
What type of support would you need to have?
What habits or behaviors do you need to change?
What about your beliefs? They may have to change.
What action steps do you need to take along the way?
What are the areas but things you need to learn along the way?
What are the most important choices you have to make?
What is the last thing that you have to achieve to have your best life?
Now it’s time for you to start thinking about the steps that you need to take. Put these steps in order so that they make sense to you. Think about the gap between where you are now and where you want to be in the future. It may seem impossible, or maybe not achievable. This is why you have to take it step-by-step.
It’s so important for you to revisit your vision from time to time. Don’t be surprised if your answers to the questions change possibly resulting in some plans changing too. This is actually a good thing. You need to be flexible to enable you to change for unforeseeable events.
It’s important for you to believe in the process. Create your vision and take your first step toward making your vision a reality.
