How do you feel you’re doing with your business?
Are you doing as well as you thought? Maybe your progress is better then you had planned. Maybe you’re exceeding all your goals right now.
Maybe it’s not going as good as you expected. You’re just not quite reaching the goals that you have set for yourself.
Do you ever wonder why some people are successful and others are not?
You can have two people start out at the same time that have the same experience. They are both promoting the same offer and have the same training. They are both working their butts off. How is it that one person can do well and the other just get lackluster results.
Do you know who Samuel Pierpont Langley is? Would you believe me if I told you he was the first person to try and pilot an airplane? He was doing this at the same exact time as the Wright brothers. Also trying to be the first person to pilot an airplane only a few hundred miles away.
Why is it that nobody heard of Samuel Pierpont Langley? But when you mention Wilbur and Orville Wright, most everyone has heard of them.
Let me give you the lowdown on Samuel Pierpont Langley. He was groomed for success. He was a senior officer at the Smithsonian Institution. He worked at Harvard. He knew some powerful Business friends like Andrew Carnegie and Alexander Graham Bell. I think you would have to agree with me he was a very successful person.
Back around the early 1900s, Samuel Pierpont Langley was given a $50,000 Grant from the war department to fund his project. This was a huge amount of money for the time. He also pools together a well-educated mind to help him with his flying endeavor. Not to mention that he had lots of press coverage during this time.
A few hundred miles away the Wright brothers and their team were working on their flying machine. The Wright brothers had such a strong passion for flying and dedication to see this to the end. They didn’t receive a penny from government funding. They didn’t have any high-level connections. No one on the team had an advanced degree, not even the Wright brothers. Heck nobody even knew what they were up to.
But then on December 17th, 1903 a small group saw a man take flight for the first time in history.
How were the Wright brothers able to pull this off and a well-funded and educated team could not?
I’m going to tell you right now this had nothing to do with luck.
Hey, I get it. You don’t feel like reading the article. Check out the video were you and I will go through each detail.
Both teams were highly motivated and had a strong work ethic. They both had scientific minds and were pursuing the same exact goal at the same time. How were the Wright brothers able to do this?
The Wright brothers were able to inspire the people around them. The Wright brothers started out knowing their WHY.
Knowing your “why” will dramatically change your life and business results.
Maybe you haven’t found your purpose, you’re “why”. This has to start with inspiration. What types of things inspire you? What are the things that make you feel alive? I’m not talking about your dream vacation lying on a beach somewhere. It actually goes further beyond that. Your why has to be much bigger than that. This is something that is going to force you up to the next level in your life. Find something that you’re passionate about in focus all of your attention on this. You want to feel a fire in your belly.
You don’t have to come up with brilliant ideas like the personal computer or automobile right now. However, that’s not out of the realm of possibilities with you. This is about you connecting to a cause that’s bigger than you are and is who you are and what you are all about.
Find out what your strengths are. Don’t kid yourself, we all have some. Take a moment to think about some things you have are always been good at. Don’t worry if they’re a good or bad idea at this point. Just getting the flow of thinking about your inner strengths no matter what they are.
Your strength may be simple to you but very difficult for someone else. You can go here and take a free test to find out what strengths you may have.
As you are exploring your inner strengths keep in mind which ones you are passionate about and which ones you are not. You want to focus on the ones that you are most passionate about. These are the ones that going to drive you and focus at your best.
Doing something you’re good at but at the same time you despise it is not going to lead you to the fulfillment that you expect. Find your greatest strength where you can add the most value from your education, skills, and experience. Use these to focus on the opportunities and career paths where you are likely to succeed and find a great sense of accomplishment and contribution.
Don’t undervalue any of your skills. Too many people do this. This one thing is what stops them even before they get started. You want to look at your strengths in the eyes of people having a problem that your strength will become their savior.
You can also come at this from another direction. Think about what problems you like to solve for other people. This will help you focus on your natural strengths in those things you are inherently good at.
When you make a decision to stand for something in your life and you’re aligned with it. This will help you stay focused and not fall for anything that comes your way.
Knowing your purpose may compel you to take on challenges that from time to time will stretch you as much as they will inspire you. Some of the challenges that you will be faced with will make you uncomfortable. Having this purpose will teach you that you need to be uncomfortable to grow as a person.
It’s knowing your why,
